Many whales are very acrobatic They can jump high out of the water and then slap the water as they come land. Sometimes they even twirl around while jumping. Jumping might have a social meaning, or it could be just for fun. There is some evidence to suggest that jumping could loosen skin parasites

Some whales stick their tail out of the water into the air, swing it around, and then slap it on the water’s surface, this is called lob tailing. It makes a very loud sound. The meaning or purpose of lob tailing is unknown, but may be done as warning to the rest of the pod of danger.

When a whale rests, it will often lie still on the surface of the water with its tail hanging down.

Whale´s songs can be heard for miles. One of the most beautiful and complex, is the Humpback whale´s song, which can last for as long as 30 minutes.
