Sea Stars, also known as Starfish are not in fact fish. They are invertebrates and there are more than 1500 species, living in all seas and oceans, at all depths.

Most sea stars have 5 arms but some can have as many as 40 arms, or more. The arms radiate from a central disk. Sea stars do not have a brain. Instead, they have a simple nervous system and on the tip of each arm, there are light sensors. Sea stars can regrow arms if they break off, or are eaten by predators.

Sea stars eat clams, corals and fish, as well as other animals. Most sea stars usually measure between 12-24 cm in diameter but some can grow to 1 metre in diameter.
