Rays eat fish, , shrimp, plankton and worms. How they catch their food depends on the type of Ray. Some rays actively hunt for food and they do this near the sea-bed, grabbing their prey and crushing it with their teeth. Manta Rays funnel food into their mouths whilst swimming and Electric Rays stun their prey with electricity, in order to catch and eat it.
