Rays, no matter what their size, have a flattened body. It can be circular, oval or triangular, depending on the species. The shape of the ray’s body has adapted to suit its habitat, either living on the seabed, or constantly swimming. The pectoral fins are large and are connected to the body to give its easily recognizable form. Rays do not have any bones. There skeleton is made of cartilage, like the shark. Some rays have spines on their elongated tails, which can poison predators.
